Ice Capades
We had quite the ice and snow storm roll through Dallas a week ago. It created quite a disruption for the staff and tenants at the building I manage. The weather also generated some "special" moments that I wanted to share.
1. Received email from a major tenant: "We understand that there are rolling black outs in Dallas today. Please let us know if we are affected."
TxBubba: Do I really need to answer this one, or will the lights going out serve as notification?
2. Work order phoned in: "Tenant called and complained that their space was cold. Asked if ice outside had anything to do with it."
TxBubba: I would have loved to hear my engineer's response when he visited with the tenant to answer this question.
3. Phone call to security: "If the garage is closed, can I still park in my reserved space?"
TxBubba: No, we are using it for snow storage.
4. Email from employee: "I tried to drive in but ran into a curve. Can I put a new rim on my expense report?"
TxBubba: Make them spinner rims so you can increase your street creds, yo.
5. Email from employee: "We just lost power. I think I will stay home and answer emails."
TxBubba: Yeah, I know, Blackberries kept working and I am sure that is what he was talking about, but it still made me chuckle.
6. Last, but not least, my favorite. Received from Security Control via email to me: "Fire monitoring systems normal, full security staff on site, operations reports no glass breakage, Starbucks is open."
TxBubba: All critical systems online.
I love my job.
